Anna-Maaria Varonen (1978) started her study of music first with piano and then at the age of 12 she started to study the cello with Marjo Anttila in the Salo music institute. From 1998 to 2002 she studied at the Jyväskylä polytechnic school of music as a student of Olli Varonen. After graduating from Jyväskylä she went to Budapest to continue her further studies with professor László Mezö at the Liszt-Academy. Anna-Maaria has been appearing as a chamber musician around Finland and in St. Petersburg, Prague, Paris and Budapest. Since 2003 She has been a cello teacher in Ala-Keitele music institute.
Olli Varonen (1965) studied with Seppo Kimanen and Seppo Laamanen at Sibelius-Academy. Also the studies in the Helsinki Juniorstrings (conductead by Géza and Csaba Szilvay) were very important for his development. From 1984 to 1988 he studied with professor Ede Banda at the Liszt –Academy. Varonen has appearing as a solo-recitalist and a soloist with orchestras as well as a chember musician since 1982 in Finland, Swedwn, Denmark, France, Estonia, Hungary, Great-Britain, Austria, Russia USA and Singapore.
As a cello duo Anna-Maaria and Olli have been performing since 2000. At the moment performing as a duo is one of their main tasks in music life.
